Are you 8 to 16 years old and love to sing? Auditions for Kokopelli in January

Need a Great New Year's Resolution?

At this time of year, we're often looking for a new path to follow or a new hobby to pursue, something that might challenge us and add a bit of fun to our lives. Both our two younger choirs, Shumayela and Kikimasu, welcome interested singers aged 8 to 16 to consider auditioning in January to join us for the rest of the season. These choirs are firmly grounded in the Kokopelli philosophy of sharing and joy in music, with an emphasis on a thorough grounding in musicianship and a commitment to creating an atmosphere that celebrates and welcomes young singers of many stripes -- a particularly important thing for those young people in those 'tween' and teen years.

Interested singers (or their parents!) may contact the choirs' directors to set up an audition.

Kikimasu (rehearses Wednesdays from 5 to 7 p.m. on the south side of Edmonton, singers aged 8 to 12) - directed by Ms. Carmen So (cso@ikokopelli.com)

Shumayela (rehearses Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m. on the south side of Edmonton, singers aged 12 to 16) - directed by Ms. Kim Denis (kim@ikokopelli.com)

Our two older ensembles, Kokopelli and Òran, are presently not seeking new altos or sopranos but interested tenors and basses may apply for an audition in the New Year:

Kokopelli (rehearses Mondays from 7 to 9:30 p.m. and Wednesdays from 4:15 to 6:30 p.m. at McDougall United Church, singers aged 16-23) - directed by Mr. Scott Leithead (scott@ikokopelli.com)

Òran (rehearses Thursdays from 7:15 to 10:00 p.m. at Edmonton Moravian Church, singers aged 20-40) - directed by Ms. Kathleen Skinner and Mr. Scott Leithead (katy@ikokopelli.com)
